Dave proudly served over 10 years in United States Marine Corp aviation as a crew chief. He was stationed at Cherry Point, Virginia, and overseas in Okinawa. Dave had many good memories and stories of his military adventures that he loved to share with friends and family. He sold farm equipment in the Yakima Valley for years and also worked for the local Pepsi Cola and Coca Cola in sales. Prior to become disabled due to his illness Dave worked for Kwik Lok Corporation for over 12 years as a service & installation technician - traveling all over the United States and Canada.
He loved the game of golf - playing in tournaments was his passion! He loved to build, tinker, and fix things in his immaculate and organized garage/man room.
Dave was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Barnes, and a brother, Raymond Barnes. Survivors include his loving wife and best friend, Teresa Nashem Barnes; two daughters, Tracey Barnes of Yakima and Dora Barnes of Ellensburg; four sons, Josh Barnes of Pittsburg, Paul Barnes and Jeffery Barnes, both of Memphis, and Christian Leach of Yakima, and a grandchild; his mother, Beverly (Harris) Reedy of Yakima; a brother, Phil Barnes of Selah; two sisters, Brenda Sutherland of Puyallup, and Bernadine Stevens of Yakima; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
We thank his doctor, Cornelius Brandt M.D., all the doctors and nurses at Virginia Mason Hospital, as well as Yakima Regional Hospice for their loving care of David.
A celebration of life memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 11, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church with a gathering afterward in the Garden Room. To share a memory of Dave visit, wwwkeithandkeith.com. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the local American Legion.
