

He was born July 30, 1920 in Yakima, Washington. He spent his life on the farm in which he was raised. David was the second son of Nils and Victoria E. Granholm of the Brownstown area. David attended Bench Grade School followed by two years at Wapato High School and graduated from White Swan High School in 1939.
He was a loving and caring person. David married Margaret L. Anderson on May 7, 1944 at the First Baptist Church in Yakima. In 2004, David and Margaret celebrated sixty years together with a reception on the family farm.
David lived on the farm since 1920 and was a rancher his entire life. He kept a picture perfect farm with the help of his brother Vic. After Vic retired, David’s son Ronald D. Granholm assumed this responsibility. In the 1970’s David was a member of the Sugar Beet board and in the 1980’s was a member of the Irrigation Board. He was elected the “mint grower” of the year in 1989 and received a plaque at the annual mint growers meeting.
He was proud to be a member of the Brownstown Volunteer Fire Department. David also enjoyed being a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Yakima since the 1930’s.
Outside of his work on the farm he enjoyed reading, traveling, camping and being with his family. He had many fun times fishing and hunting with friends and family. He loved to go on horse trail rides with his children and friends.
He is survived by: brother Donald (Mary) Granholm of Mountain View California; sister-in-law Shirley Granholm of Yakima; brother-in-law Jim Anderson of Poulsbo, Washington; son Ronald (Coleen) Granholm of Wapato; daughter Donna Granholm of Wapato; daughter Elaine (Robert) Hitchcock of McCall, Idaho; and daughter Denali (Bruce Simpson) Granholm of Yakima. David is also survived by seven grandchildren: Michele Granholm, Erica Granholm, Tasha Ozark, Patrick Zimmer, Todd Hitchcock, Curtis Hitchcock, and Renee Howley. He has seven great grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by his wife, Margaret Granholm, his daughter Dorothy Granholm, his brother Warren “Vic” Granholm and his parents, Nils and Victoria Granholm.
Visitation and viewing will be held at the Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel on Monday, December 5, 2011 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Concluding services and burial will follow at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
