David Allen Griffin

David Allen Griffin died peacefully January 26, 2018, at Fieldstone Memory Care in Yakima Washington. David was born July 20, 1967 in Ephrata, Washington to Janice Griffin and the late James H. Griffin. The family moved to Yakima in 1970 where David's dad was employed as a WSU County Extension Agent.

David was an entrepreneur at an early age. At age 9, he had his first lawn-mowing job. At 13, he was mowing 5 lawns. His mother drove him to his jobs and did the trimming while he mowed. He sold wood and installed sprinklers before he became a housing developer.

He and his friends enjoyed adventures in the mountains riding dirt bikes, skiing, whitewater rafting and mountain biking, activities that resulted in a few broken bones and a lot of fun. David graduated Eisenhower High School in 1985 and CWU in 1993 with a political science degree. He was an intern in the Washington State Legislature for Jim Jesernig and later worked in the Jesernig campaign for congress.

By this time, Dave's Dad had Parkinson's and Dave's uncle Dan Griffin decided to teach Dave the developing business by having him plan and execute projects such as developing land and building houses. During Dave's career he developed 3 subdivisions and built 55 houses. Unfortunately, his career was cut short by Parkinson's and Lewy Body Dementia.

David is survived by his mother Janice Griffin, Selah; sister Joy McFarland, Selah; and brother, Michael Griffin, Winter Springs, FL as well as nieces nephew aunts uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father James H. Griffin; and grandparents, Vanira Gimlin, Dr. D.A. Chistensen and Irene Christensen.

The family wants to thank the staff at Fieldstone Memory Care and Heartlinks Hospice for the loving care they provided.

A memorial service will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church, February 10th, 2018 at 1:00 pm.
