

Deanna Winnerfred Wicks, 72, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2011. She was born in Anacortes, Wash., to Anthony and Iola Suryan September 9, 1939. Deanna lived in the Seattle area, moved to Yakima, San Jose, Calif., and Spokane, Wash, before moving back to Yakima. She was married for 33 years and was a homemaker and raised her son and daughter. She worked as a cashier at Bowden’s Auto Parts later in life and retired when the store closed its doors.
Deanna was a member of the Chelminar Grotto and has many wonderful friends that surrounded her and her family during her last days. She had many hobbies: knitting, crocheting, sewing, needlepoint, jewelry making, playing cards and golf. Many have received beautiful afghans and washcloths that she knit over the years. She also loved to watch the Seattle Mariners and travelled to Arizona to watch spring training. Purple was her color of choice from her clothing to even the trim on her house.
She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brother, Anthony (Marcia) Suryan of Napa, Calif; son, David (Amber) Wicks of Coupeville, WA; and daughter Denise (Mitch) Syverson of Yakima, WA.
Funeral services will be held at the Keith & Keith Terrace Heights Chapel on Friday, October 28, 0211 at 12:00 p.m. Private entombment will be at Terrace Heights Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
