

Born on September 9, 1960, to Sidney Paul Peterson and Lina Nadine Marie Peterson (Hicks), Esther grew up in a big, bustling family of seven children. From her early days marching as a majorette in local parades at nine years old, to her high school years, Esther carried a bright, energetic spirit that stayed with her throughout her life.
A woman of deep faith and lifelong Protestant values, Esther’s heart was defined by her selflessness. She was a natural caregiver, spending years looking after her own mother and grandfather, and later extending that profound empathy to others through her dedicated career in Home Hospice and In-Home Care.
Esther was also a legendary fixture in the local agricultural packing community. Known as a very accomplished and expert fruit packer, she was the go-to person always requested for holiday packing and She married the love of her life, Don Hargraves, in a beautiful ceremony by the pond at Long Ranch in Naches, Washington. Together, they spent 37 years together. community, and simple pleasures. Esther loved the yakima valley community, she could often be found hanging out and "cruising the Ave," attending local car shows. An exceptional baker and cook, Esther never kept her talents to herself, she shared everything she made with everyone around her.
Esther is survived by her devoted husband, Don Hargraves; her two sons David Peterson and Dustin Norton, 4 Grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren, her siblings; and a lifetime of extended family, dear friends, and neighbors in the Selah and Naches communities who will miss her warmth, her cooking, and her generous spirit.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Lina Peterson and siblings Robert Peterson, Sherri Gilliam, and Sidney Peterson.
A Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, July 11th, 2026 at 1:00pm
