Francisco (Frank) Hernandez Sr. was born on December 25th, 1941 in Helena, Montana. He spent his childhood growing up near family in Mabton, WA where he graduated from Mabton High. Frank met the love of his life Eva DeLeon, at a summer dance in 1961 and they were married shortly thereafter on February 26, 1962.
Together they moved to the Seattle area where Frank got a job with Boeing, building airplanes. There they had four children and built their life together. In 1972 they moved back to the Yakima Valley where Frank began working for the Department of Licensing. After 30 years of serving his community he retired at the age of 59. Aside from giving just about everyone in Yakima their drivers license, Frank gave himself to his family and friends through his fierce loyalty, thoughtful advice, interceding prayers, and always open door. He was a true example of faith in the Lord and openly shared with anyone who needed a reminder of God’s love.
Frank enjoyed vacationing to the beach with his family, cheering on his Seahawks, and of course, playing the slots at the casino. He will truly be missed by family, friends, and all the lives he touched. He passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, June 12th.
"Vaya con Diosito."
Frank is survived by his wife of 57 years, Eva; his children, Frank Jr. (Julie), Babe, Veronica (Jarrod); his grandchildren, Heather (Tyler), Daniel (Yesenia), Hanna (Luke), Leksi, Jonathan, EV, Timothy, Ryan, and Jayson; and great-grandchildren, Alani, Chris, Anthony, Bella, Gabriel, Delaney, Jeriah, Brantley, Ryker, Addison, and Nora.
