It is with great sadness that the family of Gary Short announces his passing on October 3, 2019 after a very long battle with numerous health issues.

He loved all of his many nieces and nephews. He played Santa in many places, sang in the church and the Camerata choirs and had a very good sense of humor.

He was born in Essington, PA on January 8, 1956 to Emma and Robert Short. He met his wife, Mo’Lin Joan Vollendroff-Short, at work catering for the airlines in Philadelphia, PA. They enjoyed many adventures together in their 28 years of marriage. They went camping and travelled to the Poconos, Niagara Falls, Canada sand Disneyland.

They helped with their nieces and nephews, plus became foster parents. Gary was a very loving person who had a love of sports and adapted to being out west and watching the Mariners and Seahawks, but he always kept loyal to his home teams back east in PA watching the Eagles and the Phillies.

Gary and Mo’Lin finally made the commitment to become parents by adopting their daughter Maria Short. Gary is survived by his wife Mo’Lin “Mo” Short of Yakima, daughter Maria Short of Yakima, 2 brothers: Pastor Raymond (Barb) Short of Bedford, PA and Dan (Mary) Short of Wilmington, DE. Gary will be joining his parents Robert and Emma Short and his older brother and best friend Charles Short in the loving arms of our savior Jesus Christ.

A memorial service will be Thursday, October 10, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.keithandkeith.com

Saddens me this morning, I really loved his gentle and funny ways. Scouts, ballfields, nice town to grow up with Gary and family at St. John's Lutheran.

Gary was always a joy to be around. Spent good times growing up in Tinicum with him and the Short Family -especially during church activities at Johns Lutheran Church. Prayers sent to the entire Short Family for comfort and strength during this difficult time. Rest In Peace, Gary! ❤️

Our heartfelt prayers and sympathy go out to you and your family. Gary was a kind, soft spoken, "Steady Eddie" kind of guy. He will be missed by all of us.

I'm extremely sad to learn of Gary's passing. I still hear his laugh today, and I'm sure similar memories of his laughter are a comfort to his family and friends. When we were young men (or boys), I knew Gary from church, farm league baseball and scouts. Gary was always happy, generous, demonstrating his goodness and possessed of an optimism as to the goodness of others -- we are all better and happier for having shared time with Gary. I'm hopeful God's peace will give Gary the comfort and happiness he shared with us.
