

It’s with great sadness that the family of Jerry Merritt Jr. announces his passing on Feb. 20th 2016. Jerry loved life to the fullest; he was 60 years old. When Jerry Jr. was 8 years old he performed with his dad Jerry Merritt in Las Vegas. Jerry was a student at West Valley High; after graduating Jerry worked as an assistant manager at The Wigwam Department Store. Jerry later worked as a professional bartender and waiter, he brought joy to all his customers. Jerry had a real love for music and movies. He loved entertaining family and friends. Jerry created a website titled “Jerry’s Hollywood Land.” Jerry moved to Nashville, TN in 1996 where he worked as a professional waiter and bartender and became friends with many country stars. Jerry moved back to Yakima in 2009 to be close to his mother.
Jerry was predeceased by parents Gerald L Merritt in 2001 and Florence M Showman in 2014. He is survived by his step-father Fred Showman, step-mother Joyce Merritt, brother Larry Merritt and wife Valerie, and their daughters Tabatha Miller and Angie Teeters; brother Ed Merritt, sister Leanne Peters and husband Jason, and their daughter Sydney; and uncle Danny and aunt Alice Keen, uncle Bob and aunt Kay Keen, uncle Daryl Keen, two step-brothers and seven step-sisters.
Services will be held at Keith & Keith Funeral Home Thursday, Feb. 25th 2016 at 3 PM.
