

born June 6, 1921 in Yakima, WA. to Issac and Jessline Sparle. She was the fourth daughter of six children. She lived in Yakima the majority of her life and attended local schools. She graduated from Yakima High School class of 1939. She met David. W. Black when they were both 14 years of age and they were married at age twenty on December 27, 1941. At the time of David's passing in October 2008 they had been devotedly married for almost 67 years. Mom always said that dad was her "one and only sweetheart."
Her life was one of dignity, grace, mercy and love. She loved and enjoyed her
family, her home, quilting, embroidery, traveling, reading, tending her beautiful
rose garden and just being present to any moment of opportunity to enjoy life.
Gladys is survived by her son David N. Black (Carol Ann); daughter Sandra
Kay Osborn (Dennis); grand-daughters Jennifer Meythaler; Lynda Black;
great-grand daughters Emily and Hannah Meythaler; sisters Eleanor van Lith
and Mabel Coahn. She was preceded in death by her husband David W. Black Jr
sisters Ida and Billie May and brother Isaac, Jr.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Chesterley
Court Memory Care Facility for their superb care and love given to our mother
during her four year stay. We would also like to thank the Memorial Hospice
Team for their incredible compassion and skills as they walked with mom and us
on this very special journey.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2013, from 1-5:00 p.m. A Celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 11:00 at Keith & Keith Funeral Home.
