Gregory William Bainter

February 19, 1954 – March 5, 2025

Greg was born in Yakima, WA on February 19, 1954 to Earl William and Jean Marie Bainter. He was the eldest of 3 sons. He graduated from West Valley High School in 1972. On April 30, 1977 at age 22, he married Adele DeLancy of Port Orchard, WA at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Yakima, WA. Their daughter, Lauren Renae, was born in 1983.

Since the family owned an orchard, he began at an early age working at farming. His main profession, however, was construction starting with carpentry and subsequently going through an apprenticeship to become an electrician, and later a master electrician. He worked at Hanford many years. In 1989 he became an electrical superintendent with Bechtel on the US Embassy renovation project in Moscow. The next assignment, from 1992-1996, was construction of the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services project in Fairmont, West Virginia. The remaining 25 years, until his retirement, were spent running the family orchard, development, and returning to work at Hanford. He retired in 2021 at age 67.

Greg passed away, peacefully, after a courageous battle with dementia.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Jean (Scott) Bainter and father, Earl William Bainter. Surviving Greg are his wife of 47 years, Adele Bainter, and daughter, Lauren Bainter, both of Yakima; brothers Jeff Bainter of Cle Elum and Brett Bainter, of Sunnyvale, CA., and niece, Haley Bainter, of Colville, WA

A private graveside service will be held at Zillah Cemetery. Greg’s Memorial Service/Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 22 at Central Lutheran Church 1604 W. Yakima, WA, at 2:00 PM, with reception following in the fellowship hall.

Greg was known for his warm personality and quick wit and kindness towards others, helping them however he could. He was a man of faith and loved his family.
