Harvey Allen Russell peacefully passed away at home in Selah Washington on January 27th at age of 88. He was born in Iowa City, Iowa on September 11th, 1937 to Dorothy Purcel and John Russell. He graduated from Clinton High School, Clinton Iowa, in 1955.
He entered the Army at the age of 18 and rose to the rank of Warrant Officer III before retiring in 1977. His career in the Army included multiple foreign deployments to Canada, France, Thailand and two tours to Vietnam. He earned multiple citations and awards during his career in the Army to include the Bronze Star with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal.
He worked at Inland Machinery and Yakima Valley Waste following his retirement from the Army. Allen married the love of his life, Sandra Walker, in 1958, to whom he was deeply devoted. Allen and Sandy had three children, Judy, Chuck, and Denise and many/many fur babies.
Allen is survived by his wife, two brothers, Jim Beardsely and David Beardsely, his sister Lois Norris, and five grandchildren Bobby Jones, Jenifer Jones, Brenna Russell, Marissa Evans, and Ryan Russell. Family, friends, and others are invited to Keith & Keith Funeral Home, 902 W. Yakima Ave., Yakima WA., on February 6th at 1:00 PM to honor the life of Allen. A short graveside service will follow at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
