

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Herbert Edward Ring. He left us peacefully in Yakima, WA on January 11, 2026, at the age of 91. Herb was born on July 16, 1934, to Harold and Alfrieda Ring in Fort Collins, Colorado. He grew up with one older sister, Dorothy Wharton and one younger brother William Ring.
Those who knew Herb could attest to his friendly demeanor, sharp wit, his loyalty and above all his love of life. He had a passion for his Intarsia woodworking and loved watching football. Herb enjoyed attending the American Legion and has many lifelong friends there “Semper Fidelis.”
Herb was a beloved husband and best friend to Donna Lucille Day. A loving father to Susie Ring, Lorie (Jeff) Gassaway, Greg (Sherrie) Testerman, Brent (Mary) Testerman, Mike (Kim) Testerman, Jeani (Carl) Jennerjohn, Debie (Jay) Nell, Katrina Ring, Ron (Pam) Ring and Herb Pogue and Kristy. He was proud to have 31 Grandchildren and 27 Great Grandchildren.
Herb is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Alfrieda Ring, sister Dorothy Wharton, brother William Ring, son Herb Pogue and in-laws Walter and Dollie Day.
Herb attended Yakima High, after graduation he joined the Marines in July of 1952, he became a Sergeant and fought in the Korean war. He earned the Korean Service Ribbon, United Nations Service Ribbon and Combat Action Ribbon.
In 1978, Herb married the love of his life Donna Lucille Day. Soon after he adopted Susie and Lorie. They had a lifelong marriage for 48 years.
Herb started work in advertising and settled in with the Yakima Herald Republic for years. Eventually he opened his own business “Ring Pro Car Stereo” and had multiple successful Ring Video stores in the Yakima Valley until his retirement.
A visitation will be held at Keith & Keith Funeral Home, 902 W. Yakima Ave, Yakima, WA, 98902, on January 30, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
The Marine Graveside Ceremony will take place at Terrace Heights Memorial Park, 3001 Terrace Heights Dr, Yakima, WA, 98901, on January 31, 2026, at 11:00 am.
A celebration of life will be held at Langevin El Paraiso Funeral Home,1010 West Yakima Ave, Yakima, WA, 98902, on January 31, 2026, at 12:30 pm.
Immediately following there will be a reception at the American Legion, 1120 N 34th Avenue, Yakima, WA 98902.
