Hollis is survived by his wife of 41 years, Elizabeth (Liz); his son, Albert James (A.J.); his mother-in-law, Kathy; by his “adopted” son and daughter, Ryan and Elane, and their children (his “grandbabies”), Jenna and Jax; by his lifelong best friend and “brother”, Norm; and too many friends to count.
He is predeceased by his parents, Albert and Susie; his good friend Randy Bryant; and his daughter, Lori Ann Holly, who he lovingly referred to as his “angel”, and is undoubtedly hunting with her again in Heaven.
Hollis was born in Astoria, Oregon on May 30, 1951 to Albert and Susie Finney. He graduated from Naches High School in 1969 and married Elizabeth, his sweetheart, on June 14th, 1974. On December 20th, 1977 they welcomed their first born son, A.J., and on May 31st, 1981, their daughter, Lori. Hollis worked as a systems operator with Pacific Power & Light in Yakima, until his retirement in June of 2013.
Hollis was a devoted husband, father, and friend, as well as an avid hunter. He looked forward to hunting season with his buddies Norm, Randy, Jack, Don, Jim, Frank, and Lynn, as well as his boys A.J. and Ryan every year. When he wasn’t hunting, he enjoyed having coffee and visiting with his friends, or sitting outside enjoying the sights and sounds of nature. His friends and family knew he was always there when someone needed him and he would give the shirt off his back to any of them. His generosity and kindness is unmatched. He was an orchardist, a welder, and a woodworker; a man highly skilled in many trades.
He will be sorely missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
A graveside service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 16th, 2016 at the Naches Cemetery on Kel-Lowry Road in Naches.
Pastor Charles Bonner will officiate.
There will be a potluck celebration of life following the service at the Boot N’ Spur (on Highway 12 at Allen Road).
