Ila Mae (Burton) Grimshaw, our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great-Great Grandmother passed away Oct. 27, 2012 in Yakima, WA to resume her dance with the love of her life, Robert (Papa) Grimshaw. They were married on Aug. 4th, 1941 and soon began their legacy. Bob and Ila were best friends and traveled over the U.S. and Mexico, making friends wherever they went. The Grimshaw’s can continue their travels once again.
Ila was born on July 9, 1922 in Phillipsburg, KS. Her family escaped the Dust Bowl during The Great Depression. Ila traveled in a car with her parents, 7 siblings and Grandmother in search of a better life in WA. They picked fruit in the Great Northwest in order to survive. She worked in Real Estate until retiring at the age of 49.
Our memories consist of constant support (unless we were naughty), squishy cheese in her purse, building home, feeding her family, fruit picking, snipe hunting, Cannon Beach, OR., lemon cake and homemade ice cream. We will continue the legacy she built (except squishy purse cheese). Most of all we will miss all the love that she gave her family.
The surviving family members are Son, Dean (Sue) Grimshaw; Daughter, Vicki Jo Grimshaw. Grandchildren: Suzie Phillips, Karie (Gary) Larsen, Mark Grimshaw, Froni Pitts, Odessa (Mark) Conger, Jamaica Jo, Bill (Shannon) Mangus.
