

Ivan was born on April 3, 1934 to Gerald and Minnie Houfek in Stanton, Nebraska. He served in the U.S. Army. He married his wife Bonita Houfek in 1955. Ivan moved his wife and son to Yakima, Washington in 1956. There he worked at several jobs, including Kemper’s Drive-in, Harris Chicken Farm, Maid O’Clover, and Darigold where he retired.
Ivan has lived in the West Valley area for 61 years on his farm, Broken Wheel Ranch. He enjoyed farming and raising livestock, family trips to Nebraska and traveling, camping and fishing.
Ivan is survived by his four children, Mike Houfek (Laura), Linda Fouts (Dan), Cindy Olson (Bruce), and Mark Houfek (Rosalinda); his granddaughter Heidi Friesz (Olson), great grandson, Hayden Friesz, great granddaughter, Taylor Friesz, all of Yakima; his sister, Geraldine Bourek of Schuyer, Nebraska and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonita Houfek, his parents, Gerald and Minnie Houfek, and a brother Dick Houfek.
A visitation for Ivan will be held Thursday, April 6, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Keith and Keith Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 7, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at Keith & Keith Funeral Home with a committal service following at West Hills Memorial Park.
