

Selah –Jeanette (Jennie) Hall, 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday November 19, 2014. She was born to Mircle David and Ida Green in Warren, Oregon on June 7, 1922. She was one of nine children and always had large gatherings of family and friends. She joined the Army Air Corps in 1944 and was a chauffeur to generals and drove ambulances. She was honorably discharged in 1946. She met her husband of 65 years, Jim, at the USO in Astoria, Oregon. Jim began work with Pacific Power and Light and the family moved around the Pacific Northwest to follow his job. Their last assignment was in Selah, Washington where they settled for the last 52 years. Over the years Jennie worked in fruit processing in many positions.
Jennie was active and a long time member of many organizations, among them the American Legion Selah Post #88, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 88, Selah Community Days Board, Civic Center Board, and she spent many hours working on the Selah Chamber of Commerce crab feeds and Lions Club oyster feeds. In 1977 she was selected the Selah Outstanding Woman of the Year. She was a long time Camp Fire leader and received the Honored Citizen Award in 1983. In 1983 Jim and Jennie were co-honored as the Selah Community Days Grand Marshals. They were recognized for the 22 years involvement in Selah Community Days. They were a team.
She cared for and cherished her family of four children Judy (Steve) Sawatzky of Federal Way, Jim (Roberta) Hall, Jeanne (Ken) Breeding, and Janice Hall all of Selah. She enjoyed her seven grandchildren: Stacy Olver, Darren Sawatzky, Kimberley Hall, Kristina Siebol, James Hall, Christopher Breeding and Andy Breeding and her thirteen great grandchildren, Mason Hall, Carter Green, Travis Siebol, Holley Siebol, James Hall, Tyler Hall, Naomi Olver, Mackenzie Olver, Kylie Sawatzky, Skyler Sawatzky, Corey Kliphardt, Kayla Kliphardt, and Jordyn Matthews and they enjoyed her M&M cookies. Holidays and summer outings were filled with family and friends. Riffe Lake Memorial Day weekend became a family outing to remember; growing each year to be a very special event for all attending. After retirement, they spent many years touring in their RV and snow-birding in Arizona. They made many life-long friends.
Viewing on Sunday November 23, 2014 12:00pm to 4:00 and celebration on Monday November 24, 2014 at 1:00pm will be held at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home in Yakima. A graveside service will follow at West Hills Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to attend. Donations in memory of Jennie may be made to the American Legion , Auxiliary or the charity of your choice.
