Jeff spent most of his childhood in Yakima until moving to Cowiche, WA as a teenager. He attended Highland High School until graduating in 1983. It was there that he formed loyal friendships that lasted throughout his life. After graduation, he returned to Yakima and worked doing manufacturing and machining at various companies. He later found long-term employment at Kwik Lok Corporation, where he took great pride in his work and was affectionately nicknamed “Wing Nut” by his coworkers.
Jeff had a vibrant and eccentric personality, paired with a magnetic sense of humor. He made everyone around him laugh, often amplified by his own contagious laughter. He had a heart of gold, sometimes to a fault. A loving son and brother to his five sisters, his bond with his family remained strong throughout his life. His greatest accomplishment was being the proud father of his two daughters, Jessica and Molly.
Jeff was a kid at heart who loved a good joke, a great mullet, and rock and roll. He was a passionate vintage car enthusiast and mechanic, often found tinkering under the hood of one of his many projects. He also enjoyed fishing, attending swap meets, and watching NASCAR races, but above all, he loved spending time with his dogs over the years.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Freddie Jr.; his father and stepmother, Frederick and Florence Showman; and his nephew, Nick Kinzel.
He is survived by his mother, Patricia Showman; his daughters, Jessica Riley and Molly Steigleder; his sisters, Julie (Bill) Shields, Joy (Brian) Holtzinger, Mary Windschigl, Jeannie (Steve) Snyder, and Jessica Showman; his granddaughters, Victoria and Nastasia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He will be missed beyond measure and forever be in our hearts. We will remember him for his kindness, his laughter, and his unwavering belief that everything is better with extra cheese.
We love you, Dad.
A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
