On October 7, 2025, we unexpectedly lost Jim Laurent to cancer. I lost my husband, his sons lost their dad, his sisters lost their brother, his grandchildren and dogs lost their papa, his nieces and nephews lost their uncle, and his buddies lost their good friend.
Jimmy was born to James and Alene Laurent on February 4, 1961, in Detroit, Michigan. He was born Jimmy Allen Laurent, nicknamed Bo or Jim. He was the only boy among five sisters. He was so protective of all those sisters. His family moved to Yakima, Washington. Jim got his High School Diploma at the age of 16 through Job Corps. He went into the Marines at the age of 17 and was honorably discharged.
He married his first wife Jody Lee and from that union had four wonderful sons, Nicholas, Douglas, William, and Thomas.
He married Linda (Susie) Burns and they celebrated 25 years together. Jim worked for numerous companies over the years. He retired from Ray’s Wholesale Meats on December 31, 2024, after 19 years of employment. He loved this job, his employer, and all the employees. They were his second family.
Jim loved to travel to Paris, Rome, WA DC, Boston, Philadelphia, Laughlin and more. His favorite place was Hawaii. He loved the peacefulness of the ocean and of course the heat. You would find Jim and Susie at Legends a couple of times a month donating their hard-earned money.
Of course, he loved his children and his grandchildren Nicholas Jr., Samantha, and Wyatt. He loved his fur babies so much, Bosley, Rusty, Daisy and Levi were his life after he retired.
Jim joined the Cobalt Lodge No. 24 Yakima Masonic Center this year, which was something that he wanted to do for many years. He now finally had some brothers. He cherished this organization and what it stands for.
Jim is predeceased by his parents, first wife Jody, Susie’s parents, stepson Mark Burns, brothers-in-law David Simmons, Jr. Burns, Ray Leach, sisters-in-law Jeannie Goulet, Cherrie Leach and nephew Greg Henry. And good friends Doug Pendalton and Mr. Zero and Bosley.
Jim survives with his wife Susie Burns Laurent, sons and families Nicholas (Tia), Nick Jr and Samantha; Douglas (Melissa), Wyatt; William and Thomas Laurent. His sisters and their families Sherrie Simmons, Mary (Boo) Burton, Janie Laurent, Alene (Fidget) (Jesse), Cornelison, Donna (Karl) Nation and all their children. Also survived by AL Goulet, Steve Henry (Laurie), Cathy (Bob) Wood, Tony (Leila) Leach and Vicky Leach and their children. Daryl, Dave, Mike and Rick, his good buddies and his precious babies Rusty, Daisy and Levi. His new brothers in the Cobalt Lodge No.24.
Jim, I will love you forever, save my place beside you. -Susie
