Harold was born on October 18, 1922 in Ava, MO to father John H. and mother Parry L. (Jenkins) Smith. Harold was also lovingly known by friends as “Smitty”.
Harold entered Naval service in December of 1942 in Baltimore, MD and served as a signal man First Class in WWII Pacific arena. Harold married his wife, Dorothy Ann Baldwin on January 26, 1946 in Yakima, WA and was honorably discharged from the US Navy in December of 1948 in San Diego, CA. Harold returned home to the Parker Heights area where he and his wife began farming and raised three children.
Harold was an avid fisherman and enjoyed many days at Rimrock Lake with his buddies. He was a member of the VFW and participated in Veteran’s Day parades. He was very proud to be a WWII veteran and having been able to serve his country.
He loved entertaining friends and hosting card games at his home. One of his most favorite places to gather was the Donald Store to visit with friends over a cup of coffee. His wit and laugh will be missed by all of us.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Harold is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Steve Smith (Camille), Greg Smith (Valerie) and daughter, Debra Schneider (Rich), as well a granddaughter, Shara Green (Jabin), and two grandsons, Dane Schneider and Jason Schneider (Summer) and three great grandchildren.
