

Jon P. Larson, 54, of Union Gap, Washington went to be with the Lord on November 14, 2010 at Yakima Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 14, 1956 in Watertown, South Dakota to John and Barbara (Peterson) Larson. He moved with his family to Union Gap in 1967. He attended Union Gap School and graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1974. Jon had been an electrician at Hanford for several years before receiving his A.A. degree from Yakima Valley College. He graduated from Central Washington University with a B.A. in Education. Jon substituted in the Yakima School District before accepting a teaching position at Franklin Middle School.
He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie (Phil) Christenson of Kenmore, WA; son, Eric (Jennifer) Larson of Seattle; his mother, Barbara Larson of Union Gap; brother, Scott (Rita) Larson of Yakima; granddaughter, Grace Christenson of Kenmore; nephew, Michael Larson of Yakima and niece, Christie Larson of Spokane, and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Jon was preceded in death by his father, John Larson; grandparents, Vernon and Anona Peterson, and Julius Larson and Elsie Larson.
Jon was a talented guitarist. He performed over the years with his brother Scott and best friend Jeff Martin. They played in local bands including The Train, Foxx, and Toni and the Bluetones. Jon loved spending time outdoors taking long walks. He was an avid reader and loved animals. Being especially fond of cats, he used his artistic ability to draw a variety of Garfield characters to entertain his students, family, and friends. Jon will be lovingly remembered and missed by many.
