

Lois Audeen Volmer, beloved Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 91, with her loving family by her side at Landmark Care Facility, Monday, November 24, 2025 in Yakima, WA.
Lois was born to Stephen (Pete) Decature Simmons and Leila Ann Simmons (Wells) at Schell City, Missouri, September 3, 1934. She was the youngest of 9 children.
In 1944, when Lois was about 10 years old, the family moved to Washington state and settled in the Sunnyside area. She married Alfred (Al) Andrew Volmer on September 9, 1949 and moved to southern California where they lived approximately 10 years until moving back to Washington, eventually settling in Yakima.
Lois and Alfred enjoyed 50 years of marriage together until Alfred passed April 1, 2000. Her loyal companion of 12 years was Albert (Al) Lee Harrison, until his passing December 17, 2016.
Lois was a homemaker and worked outside the home at various times. She enjoyed yard sales and thrift stores, gambling at casinos, sewing, crocheting, working in the yard, playing games/cards, especially Uno with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed watching reruns of old western tv shows, her favorite was Gunsmoke.
Lois had many beloved pets through the years and loved watching and feeding the wild birds. But most of all, she enjoyed time spent with family, especially around the holidays.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremy Lee Juette, her parents, Stephen and Leila Simmons, 2 sisters and 6 brothers: Orpha (Orch), Vinnetta, Thomas (Jack), Virgil (Virg), Melvin (Dick), Elza (Buck), Lowell (Bud) and Delbert.
She is survived by 5 children: daughter, Sharon Kay Smith and husband Greg of Goodyear, Arizona, daughter Audean (Deannie) Fay Howell and husband Scott of Yakima, Washington, daughter Martha Jean Reisenauer and husband John of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, son Alan (Andy) Andrew Volmer and wife Marci of Snohomish, Washington, and daughter Cynthia (Cindy) Ann Volmer of Everett, Washington. 11 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 7 step-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service in Lois’ honor will be held at a later date in 2026, when all the family come together.
