She grew up there and had four children prior to meeting Robert Douglas Emmerson while he was stationed there with the Air Force. They fell in love and married in 1967 and had one son together prior to leaving the Philippines to relocate to Las Vegas, NV in 1968. The military lifestyle also found them living in Aurora, CO and Mount Home, ID before ultimately settling in Naches, WA upon Bob retiring from the Air Force.
After raising their children and working for more than 30 years in the hospitality industry, Mercy retired in 2002. She loved to spend time with her friends, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Retirement also allowed her to indulge her love of gardening, especially her roses, and playing cards.
After losing her husband Bob in 2003, she was lucky enough to find love and companionship again in her last years with Harvy Mitchell. They enjoyed travelling, fishing & crabbing, dancing, and playing poker with friends. Their relationship allowed Mercy to find her youth and joy all over again.
Unfortunately, due to complications from an aneurysm and following stroke, Mercy passed away at home on the morning of June 26th, 2018, at the age of 81. She passed, knowing she was surrounded by the love of her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers and sisters, her husband Bob, and her granddaughter Janice.
She is survived by her children: Abelardo (Eddie) Aguilar (Nida); Leonora (Nor) Liwanag; Nenita (Nita) Denton; Virginia (Vring) Fajarda (Julius); and James (Jim) Emmerson (Jennifer); her 18 grandchildren, and her 17 great-grandchildren.
