• Opal B. Rose, 91, passed away on Aug. 2, 2019, following a massive brain bleed. She was born June 8, 1928, the 2nd daughter of Frances and Charles Lamb, in Payette, Idaho. She grew up in Yakima, graduating from Yakima High (later known as A.C.Davis) in 1946. She married in June of that year and the following year had their daughter Diana. Son Larry was born just 11 months later but was killed in a car accident at 8 months of age. In 1953 the family relocated to Denver, Co. where Lonnie was born in 1956. They returned to Yakima in 1963. In 1976 she married Ken Rose, in Olympia, Wa. where they resided until his death in 1990. They enjoyed travelling, camping and boating, as well as evening walks in their beautiful neighborhood of Carlyon Beach. Following his death, Opal returned to Yakima to be near her children and grandchildren. She renewed her love of dancing and spent many Friday and Saturday evenings dancing with her best friend Ike at the VFW, Elks and Legion halls. They always looked forward to twice yearly trips to Reno and family birthdays were of upmost importance to her. I'll always remember that when times were the toughest, she made the biggest deal of our birthdays. We knew, regardless of circumstances, our day would be special.
• Opal was preceded in death by her parents, son Larry, sisters Carlette Bowles and Darlene Baudek, husbands Leonard Berkheimer, Dallas Caldwell and Ken Rose, son-in-law Ben Christie and step-son Steve Caldwell. She leaves behind her daughter Diana Christie-Bales (Ron) of Yakima and son Lonnie Berkheimer (Amy) of Selah along with grandsons Adam Christie, Micah Christie (SeWon) and Eli Berkheimer, sister Brenda Henrichs and long time companion Dwight (Ike) Staley. She is also survived by step-children Paul Caldwell, Mary Hays, Marcia Shackelford and Phil Caldwell.
• A graveside service will be held, Monday, August 12, 2019 at West Hills Memorial Park, at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow at the West Valley Church, 72nd and Nob Hill.
