

Opal was born in Yakima, WA on April 26, 1915 to Carl C. Bierly and Maybel A. McUmber. Opal received her education in the Cowiche school system. She married Raymond Earl Clubb on August 16, 1935 in Yakima. They were active lifetime members of the Nob Hill Grange and raised their daughters in the Wide Hollow area of Yakima’s West Valley. Raymond passed away October 18, 1975. On April 11, 1981, Opal married Elmer A. Ruehl in Yakima. Opal enjoyed traveling in her retirement and took many tours across the United States and Canada. She was a talented artist in knitting and basket weaving.
Opal is survived by her daughters Beverly Schanz (George) of Sunnyside, Patricia Steenbergen (Julian, Jr.) of Yakima, WA, 6 grandchildren -- Susan Schanz of Everett, WA, Mary Renner of Spokane, WA, Judy Webb (John) of Sammamish, WA, David Steenbergen (Alizia) of Shoreline, WA, Andy Schanz (Shanelle) of Boise, ID, Chris Schanz of Seattle, WA, 5 great- grandchildren, Jordan Bush, Shiley Steenbergen, Wesley Schanz, Chloe Webb, Summer Schanz, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Opal was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Clubb, her second husband Elmer Ruehl, her sisters Elaine Sanislo, Inda Barber, Gladys Drake, Bessie Blizard, and her granddaughter Nancy Schanz.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, August 22, 2014.
A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 23rd at West Hills Memorial Park.
