

Phyllis Genevieve Taylor was born February 6, 1922 to Phillip Isaac Jostes and Mary Emma Rubicam Jostes in Ellensburg, Washington. She passed away September 9, 2014 in the Wenas Valley where she lived her entire life.
She was raised on the first ranch above Wenas Lake and attended grade school in one room school house in the upper Wenas where she met her future husband, Rollie Lindsey Taylor. After high school in Naches and one year of college in Ellensburg, Mom and Dad were married July 9, 1941 by a Salvation Army Major in her family home where they continued to live and help on the ranch. After the death of her mother" Papa" left the homestead and everyone moved to smaller place in the lower Wenas where five children were born and raised.
After the children were old enough, Mom went to work at St. Elizabeth Hospital until retirement. At this time she became very active along with her older sister Eleanor in The Daughters of the Pioneers of Washington where she held several state offices and was active in research, written histories and school programs. She and Rollie were also involved with The Central Washington Ag Museum in Union Gap.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Rollie, her sister, Eleanor Feser, a grandson, Jim Whitcomb and a daughter, Mary Taylor. She is survived by two daughters and two sons Judy Kirby (Jim) of Naches and Barbara Whitcomb (Mike) of Norwalk, Iowa, Phillip Taylor (Brenda) of Marysville, RollieTaylor (Vernee’) of Selah, three grandsons, one granddaughter and three great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel.
A Memorial Service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 15th at Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel.
A potluck will follow the service at the Selah Civic Center.
