Robert Raymond Wall

Robert R. Wall was born June 30, 1918 to Hulda Swanson Wall and the Rev. Walter Victor Wall of Manett, Washington. After graduating from Bremerton H.S. Bob earned his B.S. in engineering from the University of Washington and a M.A. from Union College (N.Y.). He worked for many years as a mechanical engineer, designing patented mechanisms that fueled nuclear reactors that powered U.S. Navy submarines. Upon his retirement from GE, Bob moved to Yakima where he became a silversmith and opened a business, Wall’s Wood and Gems. He and his wife Betty sold his jewelry throughout the Northwest, traveling to craft shows in their RV, often bringing along one or two of their grandchildren to help out. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church (Yakima) and the Yakima Rock Club.

Bob leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Elizabeth Eernisse Wall; three children and their spouses, Alida and Ted Palmatier of Yakima, Carla and Rob Wall of Seattle, and Kathy and Dan Russ of Boston; twelve grandchildren, Ted Palmatier, Julie and Pablo Palmandez, Peggy and Mac Camacho, and Kristina and Nate Palmatier; Zach Wall, Cara and Ben Wall-Scheffler, Andrew Wall, and Ben Wall; Libby and Sabri Ates, Marie and Curtis Robbins, Sherry and Will Russ, and Harry Russ; and 11 great grandchildren, Guy and Grace Palmandez, Kate, Izzy, Steve, Luke, and Josey Camacho, Paxton, Marion, and Alida Robbins, and Daniel Russ. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Bart Wall. The family suggests that memorial gifts be given in Bob’s name to “The Bartholomew Wall Endowment,” Seattle Pacific University, Seattle, WA, 98119.

A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Yakima at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 19, 2010. Graveside service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at West Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements under the direction of Keith & Keith Funeral Home, Yakima, WA.
