

She married her husband John Heilman on September 12, 1949 in Ipswich, South Dakota and celebrated 63 years of marriage on September 12, 2012.
Along with her husband John Heilman, and their two children Jerry and Kathy Heilman moved from Ipswich, South Dakota to the Yakima Valley sometime around 1952 where she continued her work as a house wife. She gave birth to four more children; Bernard, Rosemary, John Allen, and Kevin Heilman.
Sallie worked from home and raised their children while Johnny worked in the Boise Cascade mill. She always made sure that her children were well cared for and healthy. She loved to cook and made the "best tasting” German food you could ever ask for!
Sallie was so outgoing and admired by everyone she met. She loved to go shopping and seemed to know and talked to everybody, she definitely was not shy! She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and great-grandmother of strong character and faith, and a loyal friend and the greatest mother-in-law anyone could ask for.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years John Heilman; her sons, Jerry Heilman & wife Mary Beth, Bernard & wife Linda, John Heilman & wife Krist; her daughters, Kathy Garza & husband Jessie and Rosemary Dewitt & husband Kim; her daughter-in-law, Lora Heilman.
She was blessed with 14 grand-children, Nuri Heilman, Jaleh Flinders & husband Shawn, Brandon and Leslie Olson & husband Michael, Jessie Garza III & wife Samantha, Michael Garza & wife Jill, Karionne Garza & husband Luis, Matt Heilman & Shawna, Blaine Markley & husband Robert, Cody Heilman, Charles, Jennifer and Brandi Reno and Aubree Heilman; 16 Great-Grandchildren, Celeste & Mariah Tinsley, Madelyn Flinders, Sophie, Gemma, Greyson, Easton & Kaia Garza, Ella Heilman, Austin, Chandler, Damien, Loren, and Christian & Riley Reno, Ashton Olson & 1 Great-great grandchild, Axal McBride.
She is also survived by her siblings; Caroline Armstrong, Franklin & wife Nancy, Gene Hammrich & wife Norma, Marion Peterson & husband Gilbert, and Helen-Mae Hammrich, brother-in-law Elton Herman.
Sallie was preceded in death by her parents: Franklin Stephen Hammerich & Mary Ann Hammerich (Tuscher), her son Kevin A. Heilman, her siblings; Wendelyn, Vernon, Leub, Martin, Ernest, Dorothy Gisi, Rita Herman, and Florence Hammrich.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with a Rosary starting at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
