Virginia “Ginny” L. Rogers-Kirby

Ginny was born to John and Ella Rogers April 22, 1934 in Canadian, Oklahoma. Passed away August 7,2018 at Cottage In The Meadow in Yakima, Washington. The family moved to Missouri near Branson, where she lived, until the family moved to Yakima; she graduated from Branson High School at age 17. She attended Yakima Valley College and graduated with a degree in nursing as an LPN. She worked at West Valley and Ahtanum View Nursing Home. After the birth of her daughter, she devoted her life to the care of her beautiful red haired angel, Kristie. Ginny retired from Yakima School District as a para-pro working with special needs children in the pre-school program at Hoover Elementary.

She loved her family, friends, dogs, and enjoyed fishing, and all sports ESPECIALLY Yakima SunKings, the Seattle Mariners and Seahawks.

She married the love of her life, Wayne Kirby on August 31, 1970. She was a devoted wife and mother to Kevin and Kristie Kirby.

She is preceded in death by her daughter Kristie; parents: John and Ella Rogers; brothers: Cliff, George, John, Don, Jim, and Steve; and sisters: Sybil and Lois.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne, son Kevin (Jeanie), step-children David (Sandy), Lois, and Karen, grandchildren Jared and Derek Kirby, sister Beth (Gil) Miller, sisters-in-law Betty, Debby and Esther Rogers, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Donations can be made to Children’s Village and North Star Lodge, in lieu of flowers.

Visitation will be at Keith and Keith on Thursday August 16, 2018 from 4:00 -8:00 p.m.

Service and reception will be at Rainier Memorial Center on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.
