Born May 28, 1932 to Lucas and Mary Neal, Virginia was one of 5 siblings who grew up exploring and swimming in the Tulalip Bay.
After high school Virginia attended Holy Names Academy and while in Spokane she met her lifelong partner in crime, Harry Kohl.
Virginia and Harry were married May 8, 1954. Through the twists and turns of life they navigated six boisterous children, claiming Mt. Lake Terrace, WA, Van Nuys, CA and Westwood, NJ their temporary havens. Ultimately the compass of destiny pointed them towards Yakima, WA in 1973 where they remained surrounded by desert hills and apple orchards.
Virginia’s passions were as varied as her collection of mismatched socks. She loved music, painting, gardening, antiques and collecting a menagerie of curiosities. As a longtime member of St. Paul’s parish she was active in her community and enjoyed volunteering at respite homes and St. Vincent De Paul. For many years she could often be found at Ballesteri’s with her coffee group.
Virginia and Harry loved to travel in their camper checking off every state in the US but she especially loved the beach. She could spend hours combing the shoreline for the perfect shell, rock or unexpected treasure.
She is survived and celebrated by her six children: John (Mary) Kohl, Jane (Eric) Kohl-Jones, Hugh (Nina) Kohl, Joseph (Elizabeth) Kohl, Mary Kohl and Anne (Karl) Kohl; six grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, three great grandchildren and her Katie Cat. She is proceeded in death by her husband Harry Kohl.
