

Yarmouth – Alan Peter Phillips, 82, of Yarmouth died at his home on February 3, 2011. He was born in Kent, England on November 12, 1928, youngest son of Constance and Ernest Phillips. He served in the Royal Navy. In 1952 he immigrated to Cornwall, Ontario with his wife June (Huxford), brother Frank and some close friends.
June and Alan made their home in Maine in 1954. Alan worked as a mechanical engineer for Fairchild, Southworth, and JW Penney & Sons to name a few. He retired when he was 62. He enjoyed woodworking in his younger years and always enjoyed the family camp on the island on Thomas Pond. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, particularly proud of bagging a moose when he was 71.
Alan was active in the Yarmouth community, serving as director of the Yarmouth Clam Festival in 1983. He was a tenor with the Downeasters Chorus and was a member of The Sandpipers Barbershop Quartet, earning several awards for his achievements. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Yarmouth.
Alan is survived by his three children: Karen Meucci and her husband Thomas of NY; Christopher Phillips and his wife Sarah of England; Beverley Pape and her husband David of IN; his seven grandchildren: Sarah, A.Gregory, Jessica, Steven, Karissa, Andrew, and April. He was predeceased by his wife, June, and his brother Frank Phillips.
