

Yarmouth - Elizabeth “Betty” A. Doyle, 69, of Yarmouth, Maine died peacefully in her sleep surrounded by family on October 29, 2013 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine. Born on November 16, 1943 in Brockton, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late M. Hartley and Frances H. Bezanson of Gorham, Maine and a sister to the late Ruth Bezanson.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, Gordon E. Doyle; two loving sons, Douglas H. Doyle and wife Sandra of Falmouth, and Brian E. Doyle of Gray.
Betty was a worthy advisor of the Rainbow Girls as a member of Eastern Star.
Betty was a long time resident of Maine but after retirement she and her husband would spend their winters in Arizona and return to Maine to spend summers with their family.
Betty graduated from Yarmouth High School in 1962 where in her senior year she became good friends with Carolyn Doyle who introduced her to her brother, Gordon, who became Betty’s future husband. Following her high school graduation she attended Plus School of Business. She worked in the office of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Maine for four years. She continued to work until her sons were born. When both boys were in school, Betty worked part time as a bookkeeper for the Falmouth Trustworthy Hardware Store. She also became a member of the Falmouth Volunteer Fire Department and Women’s Auxiliary. After several years of working at the hardware store she went to work at Falmouth Central Fire Station as the secretary for several Fire Chiefs. In August of 1988 she became a reserve dispatcher for the Falmouth Police Department and became full-time in August of 1989. She retired in October of 2001.
The visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 3, 2013 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm at Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth, ME and a Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 4 at 1:00 pm at Lindquist Funeral Home.
