Our family is heartbroken to announce that Cameron C. Balzer took his own life on February 2nd, 2026. He was born on April 13th, 1997, the middle child of Kathryn and Chris Balzer. He grew up in Freeport with his sisters, keeping everyone in stitches with his stories, games, songs, and expressions.
Right from the start, Cam loved cars. Even when he had a 104℉ fever at age four, he was found quietly lining up his matchbox cars. His love of cars continued throughout his life, inspiring him to attend Universal Technical Institute to become a diesel mechanic. After graduation, he was hired at Yankee Marina in Yarmouth where he was extremely loved. It was a wonderful job for him because Cam always loved the ocean, fish, boat rides, and collecting buoys.
When he wasn’t working or buying a new old car, Cam spent his time traveling and going on adventures. He shared many wonderful trips with his family to the Bahamas, Grand Canyon, California, Florida, Dollywood, NYC, and a dream trip to Thailand with Rachel and Greg. His annual trip to Drum Head, Nova Scotia with Greg was always special to him.
Cam was truly the life of every party – and there were many of them. He thoroughly enjoyed listening to Lil Wayne and playing beer pong for hours. He was loved by everyone who met him. His beautiful blue eyes and long eyelashes were the envy of every woman. He loved all animals, especially the family cat, Baby.
Cam is predeceased by his grandfather, William G. Gaddis. He is survived by his parents, sisters Audrey and Rachel; grandparents Rick and Linda Balzer, and Marilyn Gaddis; uncles William Gaddis, Jim (Phil) Gaddis, and Greg Curtis; aunt Melissa (Mark) Napolitano; cousins Nick, Amanda, Hunter, and Nadia; and many friends and extended family.
If anyone is feeling lost or hopeless for any reason, please talk to someone.
In Cam’s memory, donations can be made in his name to any animal shelter.
Visiting hours will be held from 1-4pm on Saturday, February 14 at Lindquist Funeral Home in Yarmouth.
