Carla Marie Guimond Groves

Yarmouth – Carla Marie Groves, 87, of Yarmouth, passed away on January 2, 2016 at Scarborough Terrace after an extended illness. She was born on March 26, 1928 to Aime and Lavina Guimond of Westbrook. She graduated from Westbrook High School and worked in Portland until after her marriage to Richard Groves of Yarmouth.

After retiring from the Yarmouth School system, she enjoyed traveling with her husband Richard to Florida in the winter and most recently spent time at Sebago Lake in the summer, where she loved to canoe up Jordan River to the waterfall enjoying the wildlife. She was an avid reader and volunteered at the Yarmouth Library.

Carla is survived by four children: Richard Groves Jr. (Conny), Amy Ward (John), William Groves (Laurie) and Patricia Groves, as well as six grandchildren: Kimberly Martin (Lane), Katherine Wilson (Zackary), Daniel Groves, Christina Groves, Samuel Groves and Steven Groves and two great granddaughters Olive Amelia, and Uma Faye. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard in 2012.

A memorial service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, January 9, 2016, at Lindquist Funeral Home, 1 Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth.
