

FREEPORT- Dennis Ivan Proctor Sr. 74 years old of Curtis Road passed away at his home on May 24, 2011 surrounded by family. He was born on February 21, 1937 in Hartford, Connecticut, the son of Alton and Thelma (Lee) Proctor-Gaskell.
He attended school in Freeport, Monmouth and California. He served 8 years in the National Guard Reserves. He was a man of many trades like lobstering, clamming in the Casco Bay area, a machinist and farming, foreman at Bostonian Shoe Shop, construction work and retired in 2002 from BIW.
His hobbies were gardening and spending time on his gentleman’s’ farm, playing cribbage, bowling, dancing to country music and partying. He loved to flirt with the ladies as he showed off his Ford trucks. He also enjoyed playing on his wife’s tractor, Kermit.
He was a member of the Freeport Snowmobile Club and the Bow Hunting Association. He loved hunting, fishing, canoeing and camping. An avid Maine outdoorsman his favorite playground was the Allagash, Mount Katahdin, Greenville and Old Town; where you could find him with his pals: Topper, John, Sonny, Wally, Jimmy, Dave, Skipper, Charlie, Gary, Herbie, Chuck, Danny, Les, and Brian, Mo, and Cal.
Dennis was predeceased by his parents, and his sister Linda Lee Proctor. He is survived by his youngest sister, Nancy Nadeau, and a half brother.
He leaves behind a wife of 19 years, Gloria Grondin Proctor. A son Dennis Jr.; his wife Carol; a daughter Susan Lindley, her husband Dale; a daughter Cyndee Linneken, her husband Daniel; a son Lesley, his wife Lynne and a step-daughter Jeanette Grondin.
He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren: Johnathan Proctor, Jason, Jennifer (Reyes) and Jessie Linnekan, Kaycee, Mikayla and Kyle Lindley, Nathan (Grasshopper) and Logan Proctor. His great grandchildren are Autumn, Daniel and Meara.
And in the end, the love he took equals the love he gave.
Relatives and friends are invited for a time of visitation from 5-6 PM with a memorial service at 6 PM on Friday, May 27 at the Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth, Maine. Burial will be private.
