

Cumberland – Edward Stuart Crawford, 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Falmouth by the Sea with family by his side. He was born in Westbrook, Maine on January 30, 1927, the only son of Stuart and Mable Parsons Crawford. He lived in Westbrook and was educated there; he left high school to join the US Navy where he served in the Philippines. Upon his discharge, he returned to Westbrook High to obtain his diploma.
He married the love of his life, Cecile La Joie, on July 10, 1948, in Notre Dame de Lourdes Church in Saco, Maine. They shared 44 wonderful years together before Cecile passed away from breast cancer.
Ed had a very outgoing personality and enjoyed spending time with family and friends and playing cribbage. He was an avid outdoors man and loved nature; he always looked forward to going on fishing and hunting trips with his nephew and friends. No one enjoyed telling a joke more than Ed and he always had one ready for any occasion.
Edward was employed for 40 years with S.D. Warren Company in Westbrook where he was Traffic Manager. He was a member of several organizations including Past President of the Cumberland County Fish and Game Assoc., General Chairman N.E. Shippers Advisory Board and he served on the Maine Traffic Club Board of Governors.
Edward was predeceased by his parents, his beloved wife, Cecile, and his four sisters: Edna Crawford, Stella Lowell, Edith Morse and Margaret Donovan. He is survived by his niece, Jane Donovan Bolduc, his three nephews: Dr. David Lowell, Dr. Walter Lowell and Mark Lowell.
