New Gloucester- Floyd Waymon Hotham, 88, passed away at Maine Medical Center following a brief illness on October 13, 2021. Floyd was born on July 4, 1933 to Charles C. Hotham and Iver L. Paige in West Sumner, Maine. He married his sweetheart, Jeannine Bolduc, on October 1, 1956. Floyd and Jeannine had an endearing love story. Never having met, Floyd was serving in the army during the Korean War when he received a letter from Jeannine. They connected quickly and became pen pals during his service overseas. When it was time to come home, she told him she would be waiting for him wearing a red coat with a white flower on the lapel. They met, and as the old saying goes, the rest is history. They were married for 56 years before she passed in February 2015.
Floyd was 1 of 8 children. He was a hard-working laborer for several different companies most notably including Blue Rock in Cumberland, ME and Valley Engineering in Gray, ME. He is survived by his brother, Jackie White and his wife, Gail of New Gloucester; daughter Gale Sampson and her husband, Kevin of Cumberland; son Waymon Hotham and his partner, Racquel of Belfast; grandchildren Ernesta, Allison, Kayla, Emily, Rose, and Waymon II; great-grandchildren Tyler, Chase, Andrew, JJ, Harrison, Callahan, Delilah, and Easton. He is predeceased by his loving wife; 3 brothers; 3 sisters; 5 children, and grandson, Joshua.
Visiting hours will be Monday, October 18, 2021, at Lindquist Funeral Home in Yarmouth, ME from 4-6pm. A funeral service will be held at the same location on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at 1pm. Immediately following will be the internment at Gloucester Hill Cemetary on Town Farm Rd in New Gloucester, ME. Afterward, refreshments will be shared across the street at New Gloucester Bible Church Fellowship Hall.
Lastly, Floyd would never say ‘good-bye’ because that was forever. So, instead, ‘until we meet again…’
