Yarmouth - Jane (McCue) Flint, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, died peacefully in her Yarmouth home on Sunday, December 23. Jane was born on July 19, 1922, in Portland, Maine, and was the second of three daughters born to Helen McLaughlin McCue and Jack Bernard McCue.
Jane attended and graduated from high school and secretarial school in Portland and was employed as a secretary for many years in the insurance, legal, and educational fields. Most recently she served for over 30 years as the secretary in the Guidance Office for Yarmouth High School where she helped hundreds of students achieve their career and educational goals.
Jane was an avid and exceptional gardener and had a supply of both flowers and vegetables every summer. She was also an excellent cook, and her chicken pies, pumpkin bread, and Christmas cookies were particular favorites. Jane was especially devoted to her two grandsons, Mick and Louie DiStasio, and followed their academic and athletic careers throughout grade school, high school, and college. Armed with an ample zip bag of snacks and water, she seldom missed a baseball, soccer, football, or basketball game, regardless of the weather. Their many accomplishments were a constant source of pride and delight for her. Jane was also a constant source of love, support, and guidance to her two daughters, Susan and Maureen, and her son David, as well as to their significant others, Bill, Rick, and Becky. She had a way of making a big impact on the lives of others in a quiet, patient, and generous way. We are all blessed to have had her in our lives for such a long time.
Jane was predeceased by her husband, Edward Flint, her two sisters, Mary McCue and Helen Gillis, and her nephew, Mark Gillis. She is survived by her three children, Susan Coleman (West Hartford, Connecticut), David Flint (Troy, Vermont), and Maureen DiStasio (Yarmouth, Maine), her two grandchildren, Michael and Louis DiStasio (Yarmouth, Maine), and by her nephews, Edward, Michael, and Peter Gillis and their families. Jane’s family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the very kind folks at Beacon Hospice for their exceptional care which allowed our mother to fulfill her wish of remaining in her own home.
Visiting Hours will be on Thursday December 27 from 5 – 7 PM at Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth with the funeral service also at the funeral home on Friday December 28 at 10 AM.
