

North Yarmouth - John Lewis Jackson, 73, of North Yarmouth, Maine, passed away July 23, 2014, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in 1940 in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Weymouth Hall Jackson and Wilda Freeman Jackson.
He graduated in 1958 from Hingham High School in Hingham, MA. He received a degree in Finance and Insurance in 1963 from Northeastern University where he also achieved the rank of Second Lieutenant in the Reserve Officers Training Corps, U.S. Army.
John married Virginia (Gigi) Rowlings, also of Hingham in 1961. They were stationed at Fort Bragg, NC, from 1964 until 1966. He then moved his family to Sturbridge, MA, where he was employed by American Optical as a computer programmer. He and his family moved to Maine in 1967 where John went on to become a Senior Systems Analyst and worked for Maine National Bank and Hannaford Brothers. He was the owner of Country Homes Real Estate and also worked for many years at Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield before retiring to Melvin Village, NH and later to North Yarmouth, ME.
John was a member of the Maine Chapter of Freemasons. He was a member in the Maine Garden Railway Society where he served in many capacities such as board member, Vice President and Website and Blog Master. He enjoyed working with his club to design and build the annual Christmas Model Train Exhibit at the Maine Mall. He was a member at the First Baptist Church in Portland, ME.
John is survived by Gigi Jackson, his wife of 53 years; his son John L. Jackson, Jr. and his wife Barbara Farr Jackson of Mt. Pleasant, MI; his daughter Kimberly Jackson Alling and her husband Keith E. Alling of Falmouth, ME; his son Philip D. Jackson and his wife Amy Brandow Jackson of Buxton, ME; his grandchildren: Samuel Jackson, Taylor Jackson, Alexander Alling, John Alling, Jameson Alling; two great-grandchildren: Angel Jackson and Samuel Jackson; sisters and brother in law, Beverly and Donald Smith of Hingham, MA; Diane Rowlings of Chatham, MA and several nieces.
