

Freeport: John F. Sargent, 72, went to be with the Lord on April 10 , 2011. Born September 25,1938 in Brockton, MA. He was sixth in the family of eight children of Reynolds and Mary Sargent. John grew up in South Freeport and was a graduate of Freeport High School and Northeastern Business College. He also served in the Army National Guard. His love of mechanical things and a good understanding of human nature led the way to being a successful car salesman for Ford Motor Co. spanning over 50 years. Throughout the decades he sold vehicles to generations of customers. John was also a mentor and teacher to younger salesmen at Casco Bay Ford. He was a life member of the Ford 300-500 Masters Club with Grand Motor Rating, a distinction few salesmen ever achieve.
John loved his family and life. Generous to people and nature, he often stayed late at work to help people find a car they could be happy about. Many of his customers were his life long friends. Also, he had a habit of feeding any animal he was around, throwing muffins to the seagulls at work or a variety of items to the raccoons or foxes in the back woods.
John was the founder of the hospitality committee at St.Jude’s Church in Freeport, Maine. He found great enjoyment in volunteering for this service to his community and church for 35 plus years.
John was predeceased by his sister Patricia Sargent Nosiglia. Surviving are his daughter LeeAnne Sargent, his son John Sargent with Sara Soule, a grandson John M. Sargent. His brother Robert Sargent, his wife Carol, sister Nancy Young and husband Vern, sister Maureen Gorman and her husband Jim, brother Richard Sargent and wife Jean, sister Ruth Burke and husband Joe, sister Paula Kloth and husband Steve, along with several nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews. John was also survived by his former wife Nancy Sargent Sherwood, and Patricia Nosiglia’s husband Luis. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Jude’s Church, Hospitality, in Freeport, Maine c/o Sacred Heart Parish, 326 Main St., Yarmouth, Maine. 04096. Visiting hours will be held Friday, April 15, 2011, 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth, Maine.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. April 16, 2011 at St. Jude’s Church, Main St, Freeport, Maine on April 16th ,2011. Interment will be in the spring at Holy Cross Cemetery, Yarmouth, ME
