

FREEPORT – Lily (Oldham) Curit, 93, of Freeport died February 24, 2010 at Hawthorne House with her family by her side.
She was born on Feb. 27th. 1917 in Macclesfield, Cheshire, England, the second eldest daughter of William and Lettice Oldham. She met her future husband Gordon Everit Curit in England while he was serving in the Third Army as a personal cook to General Patton. They were married at St. John’s Church, Macclesfield in 1945. She came to the USA in 1946 as a War Bride and settled in Freeport with her husband.
She worked for several years at Freeport Shoe Co. and LL Bean until her retirement. For many years Lily and her husband enjoyed their summer cottage on Long Pond in the Belgrade Lakes. They loved to travel and traveled extensively to Macclesfield, England to visit her family; Bermuda and Canada. She was a wonderful caregiver; and loved to knit, crochet, cook and tend her flower gardens.
She was predeceased by her husband Gordon in 1999 and her three brothers William, Ernie and Albert; two Sisters Rosa and Clara.
She is survived by a Granddaughter Jillian Buzzell of Freeport and a Great Grandson Gage Robertson also of Freeport. She also leaves several nephews and nieces both in the England and the USA.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at the Hawthorne House.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 5, 2010 at Lindquist Funeral Home. 1 Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth with Rev. Phillip Shearman officiating.
Burial in the Webster Cemetery Freeport, will be private and held at a later date.
