Portland - Dr. Louis J. Zglobicki, 67, of Cumberland Foreside, unexpectedly passed away on Friday, May 20th, 2011 at Maine Medical Center. Born in New York City, son of Wanda and Mieczyslaw Zglobicki. Graduated from New England College of Optometry, then served in the US Navy.
After discharge, he practiced optometry in Falmouth and Scarborough, Maine. An avid gardener and recreational fisherman, he eagerly looked forward to participating in the annual Martha’s Vineyard Striped Bass and Bluefish Derby. Louie was appointed to the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission and New England Fisheries Council, member of Portland Surfcasters, Falmouth Lions Club, and the Polish National Alliance. Also, he was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Yarmouth, Maine.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Diane (Warren) Zglobicki of Cumberland Foreside, daughter Andrea, son Matthew and wife Molly, grandson Owen, sister Genevieve, and numerous nieces and nephews. Despite his birth in New York, Louie was a devoted Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. As much as he will be missed, we know he has found his “secret” fishing spot in heaven.
Visiting hours will be on Wednesday May 25 from 5 to 8 PM at Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth, ME 04096. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday May 26 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 326 Main Street, Yarmouth.
