Margaret E. (Grant) Merrill

Auburn – Margaret E. (Grant) Merrill, 90, died February 10, 2010 at the Schooner Estates.

Born November 8, 1919 in Lewiston, she was the daughter of the late Raymon and Carrie (Girou) Grant. She married Halvor Merrill on October 2, 1943. Margaret lived most of her married life in Cumberland Center.

She graduated from Farmington Normal School majoring in Home Economics and was a member of the Prides Corner Congregational Church where she served on the Guild, was active in the Garden Club and Holiday Fairs.

Margaret was a member of the Cumberland Fire and Rescue Auxiliary, the Maine Cemetery Association, Robin Dow Senior Citizens and the Small Woodland Owners Association of Maine.

Margaret enjoyed Cooking, baking and hooking rugs.

She is survived by her brother Irving Grant and his wife Charlotte of Lewiston, nephews; James Grant and his wife Jeannette of Clearwater Florida, Richard Grant and his wife Kathy of Lewiston, Ronald Grant and his wife Sharon of Greene, Stanley Grant and his wife Sharon of Lewiston, Donald Grant and his wife Laural of Lisbon, Stephen Grant and his wife Pamela of Lewiston and cousins; Alice Ross of Auburn and Charlotte Walker and her husband Elmer of Farmington, James Brann and his wife Constance of Auburn and Elwood Brann of Lewiston.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two brothers; Benson and Raymon Grant Jr. and nephew; George Grant.

Visiting hours will be Saturday February 20, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lindquist Funeral Home One Mayberry Lane Yarmouth.

Funeral services will be held Sunday 1 p.m. at the Prides Corner Congregational Church 235 Pride St. Westbrook.

Interment will be in Moss Side Cemetery in the Spring.

Her family thanks the staffs of Schooner Estates and the Androscoggin Hospice for all their kindness and care.
