

Freeport - Mary Boodell “Cecy” Prescott died peacefully on May 14, 2012 at the age of 75 after a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Known for her wit, candor, and beauty, Cecy will be greatly missed by many, especially her family. Cecy’s family includes her children, Tom Prescott, Judy Prescott, and John Prescott, as well as six grandchildren, Calvin, Nina, Lucas, Kasen, Camille, and Elizabeth, and siblings Thomas J. Boodell and Mary Pelikan.
Born October 16th, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois, Cecy grew up in nearby Winnetka, graduated from New Trier High School in 1954 and remained a great fan of the Chicago Bears throughout her lifetime. She was an avid sports enthusiast who enjoyed sailing, skiing, skating and playing tennis. Cecy was president of her class at Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York and moved to New York City after graduating in 1958. In New York, Cecy worked for esteemed documentary producer Fred Freed at CBS television.
She left CBS after marrying R. Donald Prescott Jr. and started a family in Mountain Lakes, New Jersey where she was president of the Home and School Association, a member of the Junior League, and performed in children’s theatre. Cecy owned The Eagle’s Nest, a shop in Denville, New Jersey which specialized in dollhouses and miniatures.
In 1987, Cecy moved to New Canaan, Connecticut where she volunteered for Americares, a disaster relief organization. In anticipation of the arrival of her first grandchild, Cecy moved to Falmouth, Maine to be a grandmother. There, she volunteered at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland teaching English to children from Vietnam and the Sudan. She was dedicated to improving the lives of children.
Cecy’s family is grateful to the compassionate employees of Hawthorne House in Freeport, Maine for their devoted care. Thanks also to Beacon Hospice and Baysquare at Yarmouth for their dedication to Cecy.
A time of gathering and visitation will be held on Thursday June 28 from 5 – 7 PM at Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 29th at 10am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 326 Main Street, Yarmouth, Maine 04096. Cecy is the subject of the family tribute, "Searching For Cecy: Reflections on Alzheimer's." A portion of the proceeds from this book benefit the Alzheimer's Association, Maine Chapter.
