

Falmouth – Philip Kenworthy Reiman, 88, died September 5, 2010 at Mercy Hospital after a short illness.
Born in Boston, Mr. Reiman was a graduate of Cornell University, with an advanced degree from the University of Chicago. He was the Executive Director of Maine Medical Center, Portland, from 1962 through 1976. He held the same position at Southern Maine Medical Center, Biddeford, from 1977 until his retirement in 1988. Earlier in his career, Mr. Reiman was Assistant Director of the Graduate Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, and of St. Luke’s Hospital, Saginaw, Michigan. He had also served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Reiman had been a gubernatorial appointee to the Maine Health Coordinating Planning Council and President of the Maine Hospital Association. He was also a member of the Southern Maine Comprehensive Health Association, the Maine Health Planning Agency, the American Hospital Association, the Council of Teaching Hospitals of the Association of American Medical Colleges, the University of Southern Maine School of Business Advisory Board, and Rotary. He was a corporator of the Webber Hospital Association and the Maine Medical Center.
Mr. Reiman had been an honorary director of Blue Cross, a member of the Board of Directors of the Foreside Common Association, a volunteer with the Service Corps of Retired Executives, a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, and a long time member of Foreside Community Church, Falmouth. His was a life of service to others.
His wife, Catherine McDonald Reiman, predeceased him in 2007. He is survived by daughters, Laurie Reiman Mooney of Portland, and Anne McDonald Reiman of Falmouth, a grandson, Christopher Mooney and his wife Jessica Ford Mooney of California; a sister, Joanne Eusden of Brunswick; a brother, Peter Reiman of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. His integrity, hard work and compassion will serve as an enduring example to all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held at Foreside Community Church, 340 Foreside Road, Falmouth, ME at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2010.
