Falmouth - Priscilla S. Hallett, 90, passed away peacefully September 29, 2015 at Falmouth by the Sea with her loving family at her side. She was born June 19, 1925 in Westbrook, Maine to Guy and Katherine Spiller. She began her working career at SD Warren after graduating from Westbrook High School in 1943. She helped build the family business, Handy Boat Service and the Galley Restaurant, with her then husband Merle Hallett. Following that, she worked as a bookkeeper for Dr. Joseph Long until retirement.
As an active member of Foreside Community Church, Priscilla participated in the Church Guild and acted as church treasurer for several years. The knitting and sewing tables at the annual church fair were loaded with Priscilla’s handmade items. She also enjoyed gardening and baking, always keeping the cookie jar full for her family.
Priscilla enjoyed the family activities of sailing and skiing. She could knit in her sleep and always said, “the faster she knit, the faster the boat went”. She loved watching her children’s and grandchildren’s sports and school events, cheering them on from the sidelines. She summered at the family camp on Crescent Lake in Raymond from the day school let out until the day before school started. Priscilla had a lifelong love of swimming, active at USM Lifeline and Senior Games, with many gold medals to her credit.
She is survived by her children Cindy Bowden and husband Randy, Jay Hallett and wife Janice, Connie Hallett, and Richard Hallett and wife Rene. She is also survived by grandchildren: Lucas, Ashley, Hilary, Rachel, Megan, Andrew, Dylan, Patrick, Adam, Jackson, Tholia, and Doni: her two great-grandsons Brady and Colby; as well as her sister Shirley Hammon and her husband John. She was predeceased by her parents and her sisters Helen Moody, Ruth Libby, Barbara Lawrence, and Polly Primis.
The family would like to thank the staff of Falmouth House, Falmouth by the Sea and Beacon Hospice for their loving care of Priscilla over the years.
