Ruth attended local schools prior to going to work at the shoe shops in Freeport, Anderson Lobster Mill, Homewood Inn and Brentwood Rehabilitation as an Executive House Keeper. She was married to her husband Oscar Groves who passed away in 2005 and together they raised their two boys. Ruth also had a passion as an upholsterer which she did all her life right up until her passing. She also worked at the Town Landing Market for her son and was never afraid to jump on the lobster boat to help her husband. When she had some free time she loved to cook, knit, crochet, sew, or play a game of Beano, never missing it regardless of the weather. She loved to maintain her garden at her home growing fresh vegetables for everyone. Cruising was also part of her life taking several cruises with many of her girlfriends. She always had an open door for animals when she wasn’t out dancing at the Silver Spur or digging clams on Goose Island to host a lobster and clam bake.
She is survived by her sons Daniel and his wife Pamela, David and his wife Gloria, grandchildren Lisa Dyke, Amanda Groves, Heather Perry, Kristina Sturiano, and Courtney Olson; and 7 great grandchildren, sisters Delina Langlois, Muriel Buffa, Ethel Grace Peterson, Margaret Ward, Patricia St. John, and Diana Eldridge. She was predeceased by her husband Oscar Groves in 2005 and her sister Louisa Tibbetts.
