He was born and raised in Manchester, Connecticut and then went on to Southern Connecticut University and graduated with an English degree, which he used his whole life by correcting his many friends and family members whenever they used improper grammar. Tim was predeceased by his loving parents, Clifford and Alice Hassett.
In 1974 Tim moved to Maine, where he started a career focused on housing development first with Maine State Housing Authority then with Dictar Associates. Tim’s love of golf then led him to a role developing the Falmouth Country Club, where he stayed on as manager for ten years. In his later life Tim went on to become a financial planner and adviser while he continued to put his housing development and management experience to use, serving on the Board of Housing Initiatives of New England Corporation. Tim was an advocate for affordable senior housing and had great perspective around financing, development and investments.
Tim’s family includes his wife Sue Cole, son Mark and spouse Kelly, son Patrick, stepdaughter Jennifer Cole and spouse Brendan Gamb, stepson Greg Cole, and brother Clifford (Kip) Hassett. “Gramps”, a natural storyteller, was particularly fond of sharing pictures and bragging about his grandkids, Olivia, Eva, Tommy, Megan, Lily, Max, and Sophia.
Tim was a true friend to so many. He shared many good times with his best friend, Randy Simonse, his hunting and fishing buddies and their adventures in Eustis, and his friends at the Amvets, the Yarmouth neighborhood guys.
Tim loved sports. He enjoyed the great talents of his grandchildren and was quick to recap their games. Tim never forgot his Connecticut roots and his favorite New York Teams. And Tim’s recent hobby, dabbling in Draft Kings, was a great use of his sharp mind and incredible knowledge of sports facts.
Tim lived a full life and was special to so many.
