Freeport - A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Vincent (Vin) Anthony Migliaccio, Jr., 75, of Freeport, Maine passed away peacefully at his home Saturday, July 4, 2015 with his family by his side. Vincent was born January 11, 1940, in Providence, R.I. to Vincent Sr. & Mary Catherine Migliaccio and grew up in Fairlawn, R.I. Vin, along with his brother, would sing and tap dance for the Warren Indian Band in Pawtucket, R.I. He would always entertain us with stories about the dance routine he and his brother would perform. He married Marg (Macari) Migliaccio in Bristol R.I. on December 6, 1970.
Vin was a true entrepreneur, after the Military he decided to get into cosmetology. Vin graduated and opened his own salon with his sister. After a few years, and many funny stories he decided to change careers. Together with his wife they bought their first bar in Pawtucket, R.I. Vin loved the bar business and again after many years and many hilarious stories later Vin sold the bar to move to Maine for his wife’s career with the telephone company.
Once in Maine, Vin bought, managed or operated restaurants in Freeport, Boothbay Harbor and two in the Old Port of Portland, Maine. During this span of about 25 years - he also owned and operated a trucking company. Throughout all his endeavors, the family was an intricate part of his success by contributing endless support, time and energy. He turned his efforts to Freeport in 1996, to open his two most recent family businesses. While working with their father, his sons learned how to fix anything and everything and frequently can be heard saying, “How would Dad do this?”
One of his most cherished moments was when he danced with his daughter at her wedding. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and sleepovers were fun - he got to watch kid’s videos with them until way past their bedtime. He was proud of his granddaughters and never stopped acting silly with them. They would frequently hear his favorite expression, “A thousand horrors”, any time something didn’t go just as planned.
In the last decade, Vin enjoyed golfing at his winter home in Florida and sitting at his desk overlooking the ocean in Maine and boating with his sons. His most recent pastime was resting with his new friend, Charlotte, the rescued beagle. She was always by his side.
Vin was a past member of the Elks Club and a life member of the Italian Heritage Club.
He leaves his wife of 44 years, Marg (Macari) Migliaccio; his son Joseph Migliaccio and wife Rhonda of Freeport; his son Vincent Migliaccio, III and wife Erin of Freeport; his daughter Natalie Potvin and husband David from Warwick R.I.; his sister Mary Catherine Sherman-McCarthy and husband Thomas from Warwick R. I.; as well as is three granddaughters: Nicolle Potvin, Celia & Tara Migliaccio. Vin was preceded in his death by his parents and brother Christopher Migliaccio.
