Anne Joan Mulhern passed from this present life early morning Tuesday, Oct . 16th, 2012. After fighting the good fight against numerous complications, Our Lord in His mercy took His servant Anne home to eternal glory. She lived her life loving and devoted to her three children Sharon Anne Mulhern, Patricia Anne Foley and her husband Joseph, and John Michael Mulhern and his wife Claire; her six grandchildren Daniel Ortiz and his wife, Jamie, Lorraine Dunn and her husband Brian, Kellen, Kyle, Charlotte and Veronica Mulhern; and her three great grandsons Aidan Patrick and Ryan Daniel Ortiz and Logan Thomas Dunn. She was waiting with excited anticipation the arrival of her 4t great grandchild - Baby Dunn. Anne was born in Philadelphia, PA on 3/18/22 and was always a Philadelphia girl at heart. She was a proud graduate from John J Hallahan Catholic School for girls and was one of only a handful of women who worked for Publicker Industrial Alcohol and Chemicals during WWII. She would always tell you the cradle of American Independence was Philadelphia proudly citing Independence Hall, Constitution Hall, the Liberty Bell and the Betsy Ross House where the first American flag was made. She never had a Philly Cheese Steak outside of Philadelphia that was up to a REAL Philly Cheese Steak. And during her 60 years in Yonkers she introduced hundreds of people to the history of her beloved Philadelphia Mummers and String Bands. She married John (Jack) Mulhern in 1950 and Jack’s job took them to Yonkers, NY where she spent the rest of her days. After raising her three children Anne returned to the workforce where she rose from a Sales Clerk at Genung’s Dept. Store to a Benefits Analyst Manager with General Foods. She retired from Phillip Morris (General Foods) in 1987. She then devoted her life to caring for her husband Jack who predeceased her Oct. 10, 1995, all the while she continued to devote her life to loving, caring and enjoying her family, most especially her grandchildren and more recently her great grandchildren. Anne was a true and loyal friend to many. She spent the last several years wintering in SC with her daughter Patsy and son-in-law Joe where she volunteered on Saturdays at Father Pat’s Breakfast kitchen where she is dearly missed by both patrons to the kitchen and volunteers alike. Anne’s passing is felt deeply by her family and friends but her return home to God her Savior is rejoiced by all. May she rest in peace. Visiting Hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Thursday & Friday 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated in St. Ann’s Church on Saturday October 20th at 9:30 am.
