Azhar was born the son of Jamil and Shehla Rabadi in ar-Rumaymin, Jordan, one of ten children. He was the devoted husband to his wife Hend Said, and loving father to his children: Manar (Peter) Del Mistro of Eastchester, NY; William Azhar Said of Washington, DC; Jennifer (Charlie) Samaan of Centerville, OH; and Joseph (Zena) Said of Paramus, NJ. As an air traffic controller, Azhar welcomed Astronaut John Glenn and King Hussein of Jordan on his round-the-world tour, before immigrating to the United States to start a family and working tirelessly as a tool and dye maker. He devoted his life to providing for, protecting, and guiding his family, blessed to welcome his eight grandchildren: Giovanni, Niccolo, Alessandro, Gabriella, Evelyn, George, Arianna, and Olivia. Azhar lived out his retirement tending to his gardens, greeting neighbors on his daily walks, and having his evening coffee with his wife, Hend. Azhar will always be remembered for his love of family, all those whose lives he touched through the neighborhood and Jordanian-American Community, and as a devoted member of the Greek Orthodox Parish. May he rest in peace with the Lord.
Visiting Hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Thursday 5-9pm. Funeral Service will be held in St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Lockwood Ave., Yonkers on Friday June 30th at 10am. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
